Sangamittta Day at London Buddhist Vihara

Under the guidance of the Head of the Vihara Chief Sangha Nayaka of Great Britain, Ven, Bogoda Seelawimala Nayaka Thera, the annual Sangamitta Day was celebrated on 7th December 2014.

Full day religious programmes commenced with administering of Eight Precepts and Admonition ( Anusasana) conducted by Ven. Seelawimala Nayaka Thera. After the paying Homage to the Buddha, Buddha Vandana, Ven. Ajan Sundara, a visiting Nun from the Amaravati Buddhist Monastery, Hemel Hempstead, conducted a meditation programme with a Dhamma talk.

Mid day Buddha Puja was conducted by Ven. Kalugamuwe Kassapa Thera.

The Dhana to the Ven. Monks, Nuns and Upasaka Upasikas observing Eight Precepts was served in memory of Most Ven. Dr. Medagama Vajiragnana Nayaka Thera, former Head of the LondonBuddhist Vihara.

Ven. Bogoda Seelawimala Nayaka Thera and Ven. Dr. Handupelpola Mahinda Nayaka Thera from Sri Saddatissa International Buddhist Centre delivered Anusasanas.

Panwadeema was conducted to pass merits to late Ven. Vagiragnana Nayaka Thera.

All the lay devotees were also supplied with Lunch.

Dr. Sumana Perera gave a Dhamma talk and a lively Dhamma discussion was conducted by Dr.Upali Abesiri, Ven. Konwewe Ariyaratana Thera and Ven. Kalugamuwe Kassapa Thera.

Ven. Seelawimala Nayaka Thera and Ven. Ariyaratana Thera delivered Sermons in Sinhala and English.

Evening Bodhi Puja was conducted by Ven. Kalugamuwe Kassapa and all the resident monks chanted Parith to conclude the day's proceedings.
