The Community services done by Hounslow Janahanda Foundation in 2018

Hounslow Janahanda Foundation renders various kinds of community services every year as a part its objectives. Janahanda understands certain sections in Srilanka society need help and support in order to enhance their life. Janahanda Foundation has a warm way of showing empathy towards fellow Srilankans by donating various kinds of essential materials such as wheelchairs, valuable books to school children and reading glasses to those who need them.

 

The project, our organisation undertook in 2018 is to donate valuable books to General Mahesh Senanayake, Head of the Army in Srilanka, during his short stay in the UK. The second phase of this project took place in Srilanka when Mr SriLal Dias visited SriLanka, he made arrangement to take many more books and other materials to Srilanka in order to distribute among needy children in North and east with Mejor General Dharshana Hettiarachchi with his officials, During his stay in Srilanka, he organised a musical show with participation of popular singers. This musical evening took place in Palali army camp.

 

In addition to that, an event of donation of reading glass occurred at Sareepuththa Vidyalaya in Colombo and this occasion was organised Mahaweli Sewa Vanitha society of Mahaweli Authority in Srilanka, the president and secretary of this society Mrs Santha Wejerathna and Miss Sanoja Bibile led this donation of school books and other materials. This event was sponsored by Mr.Nimesh Wickramasinghe and Mr Leslie De Silva(Jony) Another event of donation of reading glass had been organised in Bandarawela general hospital. Mrs Niru Hettiarachchi, an active member of Janahanda organised this event. These reading glasses were handed over to DMO of the respective hospital Dr Gallage. Janahanda Foundation expects to expand its community works in the years to come.
