Sara Sihina increases awareness of Chronic Kidney Disease in Sri Lanka

Sara Sihina musical extravaganza, held on 20th September, showcased and celebrated the diverse and exciting musical talents of popular Sri Lankan duo Bathiya N Santhush featuring Ashanti, Randhir and Umaria. This inspiring collection of artists and singers, were accompanied by a top live band 2fourty2 led by Billy Fernando, with a superb sound system, transformed the Troxy Grand Theatre into a showcase of wonderful entertainment.

1000 music lovers who turned up to the event had the opportunity to witness the poverty, deprivation and the socio economic hardships ,the tearful tales of the families of many young farmers in Sri Lanka, suffering from chronic kidney disease (CKdue) through the haunting images from a documentary screened prior to the start of the Musical show.

Sara Sihina was organised by the Youth Team of Hela Sarana, a UK registered charity, with a primary objective of raising funds to alleviate the suffering of the CKDUe affected. The secondary aim was to further increase the awareness of CKDUe amongst thousands of Sri Lankans living in the UK and appealing for their help. The music, the entertainment, raising awareness of CKDU the promise to do more made the event a great success.

Hela Sarana activities begin in 2015 with a Fund raising event in aid of cancer patients at the Maharagama Cancer hospital in Sri Lanka.
