Visakha Autumn Ball 2016

The Visakha Autumn Ball organised by the PPA Visakha (UK) was held at the Grange City Hotel in London on Saturday, 15th October 2016.The weather and the traffic congestion around the hotel did not dampen the mood. The guests were warmly welcomed with a drinks reception. There were Visakhians young and old mingling cheerfully at this annual event.

Following the reception, guests were invited to the elegantly decorated ballroom. The tables had beautiful tall crystal centre pieces adorned with blush pink flowers which matched to perfection the pastel pink souvenir cover. The Breeze with Denzil and Suresh were playing melodious music.

Mrs. Dayani Senerath Gunasekara addressed the guests. She stated that the Autumn Ball was the main fundraiser in our calendar of events and contributed substantially to the Bursary Fund which helps financially disadvantaged Visakhians throughout their selected undergraduate course- to reach their academic goals. She thanked the guests for their presence and support.  She individually thanked the Event coordinators, Souvenir editors and Raffle organisers for the day’s event and concluded by thanking the dedicated committee for the continued success of the Association’s events.

The raffle draw attracted a lot of attention as there were many wonderful prizes with the first prize being two return air tickets to Colombo The toe tapping music provided by The Breeze entertained all age groups and the dance floor was packed to full capacity till the last dance.

The proceedings concluded in the small hours of Sunday morning, with all past Visakhians singing the school song, followed by everyone joining in for the two national anthems. It was indeed a fabulous event diligently organised by the best.
