The Sri Saddhatissa International Buddhist Centre started to observe the Vas Season at a ceremony held on Esala Full Moon Poya Day of 27th July 2018 at 7:00pm presented over by Aggamahapanditha Ven. Galayaye Piyadassi Nayaka Thero. The main sponsors of the Vas invitations were Mr. & Mrs Vajira Liyanage and family who had decorated the Puja Hall for the occasion. Besides Aggamahapanditha Ven. Galayaye Piyadassi(MBE) the other resident monks who are observe the Vas at the SSIBC are Ven Dr. Handupelapola Mahinda Nayaka Thero, Ven Nakiyadeniye Gnanuththara Thero Galle, Ven Nepale Tissa Thero and Ven Galayaye Dhammadassi Thero.
The Asumaha Sravaka Pujava is scheduled for Saturday 10th November and the Kathiana Chivara Pujava is scheduled for Sunday 11th November 2018.
Nava Arahadi Pujavas are arranged for every Sunday evening at 6:30 PM at the SSIBC for the duration of the Vas Season. The First Arahadi Pujava was held on Sunday 29 July. Special sermon was delivered by Professor Deegalle Mahinda Thero of the Bath Spa University. The topic was “Thun Sarana” the book was written 19th century the great value to Buddhism and Sinhala culture.
