Sri Lanka High Commission in London commemorates Vesak

The Sri Lanka High Commission in London held a Pirith chanting ceremony on 18th May 2016 followed by a Heel Dana the following day to commemorate the festival of Vesak.

During the religious ceremony, blessings were invoked on the war heroes who had laid down their lives in defence of the motherland and all those affected during the recent floods and landslides.

The religious ceremonies were conducted under the guidance of the Ven. Bogoda Seelawimala Nayaka Thero, Chief Sanganayake of Great Britain. Buddhist monks representing all the Sri Lankan Buddhist temples in the UK participated in the religious ceremonies.

There are 54 Theravada Buddhist Temples in the UK out of which 25 temples are administered by Sri Lankan Buddhist monks.
