VAST GATHERING OF BUDDHIST MONKS AT KINGSBURY TEMPLE FOR 25th ANNIVERSARY OF PASSINGAWAY OF VEN.( DR) HAMMALAWA SADDHATISSA NAYAKA THERO

Over 30 Buddhist Monks from Sri Lanka, United Kingdom, Nepal and France attended the All Night Pirith Chanting Ceremony at the Sri Saddhatissa International Buddhist Centre on Saturday 10 February 2018, organised by Aggamahapandita Ven: Galayaye Piyadassi Nayaka Thero, Chief Sangha Nayaka of the UK to mark the 28 Anniversary of the passing away of Ven Dr Hammalawa Sadd-hatissa Sangha Nayaka Thero of UK and Europe, who was Head of the London Buddhist Vihara for over 25 years.


The ceremony began with the Buddha Pujava at 7.00PM, which was conducted Ven Uduwe Dhammaloka Nayaka Thero. The Pirith Chanting began at 8.00 PM after the assembled Monks were conducted to the ornately designed Pirith Mandapaya by a Hewisi Troupe. The Anusasanava were delivered By Ven. Pahamune Sumangala Nayaka Thero, Deputy Secretary of the Malwatte Chapter and Ven. Murungasyaye Gnanissara Nayaka Thero of the Jethavanarama Buddhist Temple in Paris.The pirith chanting was initiated by Ven. Mathugama Palitha Thero.

Uluwitake Bodhiseeha Nayaka Thero of the Kachikawatte Purana Vihare in Galle; Ven. Godamunne Piyananda Thero of the Asgiriya Maha Vihare;


Ven. Konwawe Ariyarathana Thero and Kalugamuwe Kassapa Thero of the London Buddhist Vihare; Ven( Dr) Witharandeniye Kassapa Nayaka Thero , Ven Aparakke Dhammananda and Ven. Bambarawane Upali Thero of the Birmingham Maha Vihare; Ven. Kebellewe SiriSumana Nayaka Thero of the Barking Buddhist Temple; Ven. Keppetiyagoda Gunawansa Nayaka Thero and Ven. Mapalagama Sorata Thero of the Jethavanaramaya Buddhist Temple in Birmingham; Ven. Gunnapane Sumanarama Nayaka Thero of the Edmonton Samadhi Meditation Centre; Ven. Makure Mangala Nayaka Thero of the East London Lumbini Vihare; Ven. Akurala Samitha Nayaka Thero of the Letchworth Dhamma Nikethanaya; Ven. Matugama Palitha Nayaka Thero of the Cambridge Buddhist Vihare; Ven. Madugalle Mahanama Nayaka Thero of the Sambodhi Vihare in Upton Park; Ven. Wandurambe Kassapa Nayaka Thero and Ven. Bengamuwe Nalaka Thero of the Athuladassana Buddhist Vihare in Hounslow; Ven. Nepale Indrasak Nayaka Thero of the Lumbini Nepal Buddhist Centre in Greenford;


and from the Sri Saddhatissa International Buddhist Centre Aggamahapandita Ven. Galayaye Piyadassi Nayaka Thero; Ven. ( Dr) HanduPelpola Mahindsa Nayaka Thero; Ven. Nepale Sumana Thero; Ven. Nepale Tissa Thero and Ven. Galayaye Dhammadassi Thero.



A Dansala was organised after the Maha Piritha. The ceremonies ended with Heel Dana at 7.am on Sunday 11thFebruary 2018.
