Leica Camera AG has announced a new compact, multi-lens camera called the Leica M-P that will join its rangefinder portfolio.

The Leica M-P comes with a 2GB RAM buffer, which is double that of the Leica M and means up to 24 images can be shot continuously at a speed of 3fps.

There is a full-frame CMOS 24-megapixel sensor on board that features 10 times magnification and 1080p video, plus there is a 1800mAh battery under the hood to keep things ticking along.

A 3-inch 920 LCD screen sits on the rear, with a sapphire crystal cover and an anti-reflective coating on both sides so you should be able to see your images even in direct sunlight.

The Leica M-P comes with a traditional thumb wheel but the company has removed the logo and engraved a subtle Leica script on the top plate instead.

You'll also find a new frame selection level for subject framing feature on this camera, which works by bright-line framing for six different focal lengths that can be projected onto the viewfinder to simulate the frame.

These are shown in pairs for focal lengths of 28 and 90mm, 35 and 135mm, or 50 and 75mm and it means lens changes aren't needed to assess framing.

The Leica M-P is available now for £5650 in either black-paint or silver chrome.
