Samsung and Barnes & Noble have released the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook tablet and eBook reading device in the US today.

The 7-inch device comes with $200 of content at no extra cost including a stack of bestselling books, magazines and TV shows, as well $5 credit towards a purchase from the B&N online store.

It will feature the Nook UI on top of Android 4.4 KitKat rather than Samsung's TouchWiz interface and it has a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and 1.5GB of RAM powering it.

There is 16GB of storage on board with microSD support to expand storage space by up to a further 32GB, a 1200 x 800 resolution display and it is Wi-Fi enabled.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook also features Nook Profiles that allow each member of the family to have their own books, videos and apps available to them and only them.

Some might argue that you may as well spend your money on a regular Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 but as well as the $200 of free content, Barnes & Noble is offering a $20 instant rebate incentive. That means you can effectively get the tablet for $179 (around £107) online. It usually costs $199.

There is no word on whether the device will come to the UK but it is available now for US customers.
