Julian Simonsz's first single, "I Do It For You,"

Of Sri Lankan heritage, Melbourne based Julian Simonsz, 28, has had a passion for singing for as long as he can remember. Over the past few years he has taken this passion on board and completed a Bachelor of Audio Production at the renowned SAE Institute, he performed at various Melbourne venues and built his YouTube profile online. It was his stint on Season 3 of The Voice Australia in 2014 that catapulted his music profile. His smooth rendition of Justin Timberlake’s Suit and Tie was one of only nine blind auditions that had all four coaches vying for a place on their team. Joel Madden commented “I love your voice and you have a great vibe… I think you’re going to have a lot of opportunities”, Kylie Minogue praised his voice as “very smooth, all of your runs were beautiful. I think you’re fantastic and I would love to be by your side” and Ricky Martin went the whole way to say “I think you’re going to win the voice! The voice is there, the talent is there, you were very controlled.. you were on top of it”. Ultimately it was Grammy winning mega producer Will.I.Am who commented “you sounded fantastic; your tone, your inflections, your riffs…you defined it. I would love to have you on my team” who Julian chose to be his coach given his own personal interest in production as well as being an artist. Will.I.Am described Julian’s voice throughout the show as “amazing”, “pristine” and “soulful” and saw him deliver four outstanding performances as he made it to the top 24, along the way being dubbed “the next Justin Timberlake” (Daily Mail UK Online) in print and on social media. The blind audition that launched his fame was the moment that Sri Lankan’s all over the world fell in love with Julian. He was married only a few days prior and mentioned that he was to have another wedding in Sri Lanka just days after the blind audition and instantly he went viral. Since then his popularity in Sri Lanka has catapulted with his cover of All Of Me reaching number 6 on the home grown chart and has sparked much interest for a tour which will likely happen later in the year. “The support I received from Sri Lankan’s in Australia, Sri Lanka, the UK and all over the world was phenomenal, I didn’t expect it! But the love and support they have shown me has been so humbling and I am so grateful for all of it” !

I am so humbled with how far I have come and I can’t wait to share what I am working on and see where it will take me!!” Since his departure from the The Voice Julian has started performing at multiple gigs including opening act for multiplatinum Urban artist Chingy, festivals, corporate function and some coveted venues such as Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium and AAMI Park housing tens of thousands of sporting fans. Most exciting for Julian however is that he has been working on an upcoming debut EP which will launch later this year. But now he brings to his fans the first single from the EP, I Do It For You, an upbeat pop tune with old school soul undertones that has a slick falsetto line and a catchy tune! The song, co-written with esteemed Australian producers MSquared, is an anthem to appreciate and celebrate those who deserve it. “On the surface it is a love song, but the underlying meaning is to give listeners a chance to think about how they can appreciate the important people in their lives who they owe so much to.” He took this idea to the music video too where he involved fans via a call out on his facebook fan page of over 35,000 likes, and received a number of nominations for inspirational people in their lives; “rather than having actors in the clip, to have these real people with real stories involved in my very first music video was so exciting and humbling. It was a really special idea and tied in the with the underlying meaning of the song that I wanted to portray” Now with the single released on iTunes internationally as an independent artist it’s time for his fans and supporters to get behind him and help get the single to chart, this song deserves to be heard and enjoyed by the masses as it delivers a positive message with a catchy tune that will be sure to get fingers clicking. !
