Application for postal voting opens for presidential polls

Applications for postal votes for the upcoming Presidential Election commenced on Sunday, Elections Department sources said. Additional Elections Commissioner U. Amaradasa said applications will be accepted until December 4.

Applications can be faxed to the Election Secretariat at 011-2877615 or e-mailed to it@slelections.gov.lk or faxed to the respective district election office.

The election official advised government sector workers to verify whether their names are on the voter lists which will be displayed at the divisional secretariat offices and the Grama Seva offices before they submit applications.

Presidential elections will be held on January 8, 2015 and 15,044,490 voters will be eligible to vote according to the Electoral Register of 2014.
