INTERFAITH CALL FOR WORLD PEACE-TSUNAMI COMMEMORATION AT KINGSBURY TEMPLE

The Sri Saddhatissa International Buddhist Centre, in Kingsbury held its annual Inter Faith Ceremony and the commemoration of the 2004 Tsunami tragedy on Friday 17th December 2017.

The ceremony was presided over by Aggamahapandita Ven. Galayaye Piyadassi, MBE, Chief Sangha Nayaka Thero of the United Kingdom and the Head of Sri Saddatissa International Buddhist Centre in Kingsbury.

Ven. Nepale Sumana Thero welcomed the gathering and invited the special guests led by Her Excellency Amari Wijewardena, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to light the traditional lamp.

HE Amari Wijewardena, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka addressed the gathering and thanked Ven. Piyadassi Nayaka Thera for organising the Interfaith Call for World Peace and the Tsunami Commemoration. Councillor Kareema Marikkar representing the Worshipful Mayor of London Borough of Harrow gave speeches in English, Sinhala and Tamil languages.

Dr. Siva Sivardeen, President British Sri Lanka Association, Samira Ciotti, Baha'i Community of Harrow, Ven. Prof. Deegalle Mahinda Thera, Professor of Religions, Philosophies and Ethics at Bath Spa University, Buddhist Representative, Rev. Laurence Hillel, Co-Director, London Interfaith Centre, Sr. Elizabeth O'Donohoe, HC, Westminster Interfaith, Sheikh Salman Siddique. Sri Lanka Muslim Cultural Centre, Harrow, Dr. Vinod Kapashi, Jain Representative and Rabai Jeff Berger, Jewish Faith Representative offered Blessings and Prayers.
