VESAK CELEBRATION AT JETHAVANA BUDDHIST VIHARA 2015 IN BIRMINGHAM

The Vesak Fullmoon day (Vesak Poya Day) marks the Birth, the enlightenment, and the passing away of the Buddha. It is the most important and holiest event for the Buddhist in Buddhist Calendar.

A special Vesak Celebration at Jethavana Buddhist Vihara was marked by Precept observation programme, meditation session, Dhamma sermon, Dhamma Discussion blessing programmes, The programme was commenced by administering eight precept (Ata Sil) by the Most venerable Keppitiyagoda Gunawansa Thero Chief Sangha Nayaka to Great Britain of Sri Lanka Ramanna Nikaya Sect. Then Dhamma sermon was given by the Nayaka Thero in Sinhala. Meditation was and Dhamma discussion was conducted by Rev.Beragama Piyarathana Thero on Sunday 03 May 2015 through out the day.

Special blessing service was held to bless the victims of Nepalese Earth quake disaster. Merits were transfer to the victims of departed victims of the Earth quake disaster. Many devotees of Jethavana Buddhist Vihara participated in the programme.
