The most sacred day in the Buddhist calendar commemorating the three-fold incidence (Temagula) of the Gautama Buddha fell on the 03rd of May this year. Under the guidance of the resident Bhikkhus of the Mahamevnawa International Meditation Centre, many devotees spent this revered Vesak Poya day participating in an exceptional Dhamma event accumulating uncountable merits into their lives.

Around 500 followers of the Blessed One observed the Noble Eight Precepts at 7:00 am and participated in various meritorious deeds throughout the day. They focused their mindfulness through meditation and broadened their knowledge in the Blessed One's doctrine through listening to Dhamma Sermons. They also had the chance to listen to a valuable Dhamma discussion done by the venerable Bhikkhus.

A separate Dhamma programme was held for the children who also observed the Noble Eight Precepts. The Dhamma programme concluded at 9:00 pm with a beautiful veneration of the sacred relics of the Blessed One in which hundreds of devotees offered various items to the Blessed One with blissful minds.

Following the Dhamma programme, the inauguration of the newly constructed Sri Gauthama Vihara and Siri Gauthama Stupa was held at the Mahamevnawa premises. A veneration was conducted at the Stupa with devotees adorning it with beautiful flowers.

The Mahamevnawa grounds were magnificently decorated with Vesak Lanterns, decorative lights and candle lights as an offering to Lord Buddha.

May everyone share the merits gained through these meritorious deeds. May everyone be happy and well. May everyone realise the noble Dhamma in this Gauthama Buddha's dispensation.

Namo Buddhaya!
