Sri Saddhatissa International Buddhist Centre organised various activities to celebrate Vesak.

Aggamahapandita Venerable Galayaye Piyadassi Sangha Nayaka Thero arranged a programme for devotees to observe Sil at the Temple on Sunday 22ndMay 2016. The Sangha Nayaka Thero, Ven. Handupelpola Mahinda Nayaka Thero, Ven. Waskaduwe Subodhi Thero, Ven. Nepale Sumana Thero, Ven. Galayaye Dhammadassi Thero, Dr Senevi Athurupana and Ms Harshini Perera led various sessions - puja, meditation, dhamma talks and dhamma discussion during the day. The evening dharmanusasanawa was delivered by Ven. Dr Kabalawe Sirisumana Thero.

The choir of the Dhamma School sang Vesak Bakthi Geetha after the Pujava, in the new extension of the SSIBC, which was decorated with colourful Vesak Lanterns, made by the students of the Sri Saddhatissa Dhamma School for the Vesak Lantern making contest. The large crowds and the noise they generated reminded one, of the Sri Lankan scene on a Vesak night with Dansalas and the "CAROL" cart touring the streets of Kandy and Colombo.

Devotees of the SSIBC hosted a Rice Dansala afterwards.

Venerable Nepal Sumana Thero, Principal, arranged the Dhamma School Vesak Sil programme on Saturday 21 May 2016 under the auspices of Aggamahapandita Venerable Galayaye Piyadasi Sangha Nayaka Thero. The Chief guest was Mrs Purnima Gunasekera, Second Secretary of the High Commission of Sri Lanka. Nearly 200 children participated together with parents. A day long programme for children with religious observations and presentations were the highlight of the day. The Sri Lanka YMBA Dhamma Certificates were presented to the successful pupils of the Sri Saddhatissa School Children at this event.
