Sachithra Senanayake returns from Perth after undergoing remedial work

Aug 21, Colombo: Sri Lanka's off-spinner Sachithra Senanayake who was sent off to Perth, Australia to undergo remedial work to correct his bowling action has returned after completing the training, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced today.

Sachithra was working on remodeling of his bowling action at the University of Western Australia with the aid of the University consultant coach Darryl Foster to correct suspected bowling actions. Darryl, together with the University Bio Mechanist conducted 10 days of remedial work to remodel Sachithra's action.

Sachithra was reported for bowling with a suspected illegal bowling action during Sri Lanka's tour in England in June 2014 and subsequently banned from bowling in international cricket in July 2014.

He was sent to ICC accredited Cardiff University for testing his bowling and according to the ICC, Sachithra's bowling exceeded the allowed 15-degree elbow extension threshold in four deliveries considered to be suspect in the 4th ODI played at Lords.

SLC will be presenting Sachithra to the ICC accredited Cardiff University for clearance testing subjected to the pending report from Perth. This report is expected to reach SLC within the next fortnight.

Sachithra was accompanied and assisted during the tour to Perth by SLC's Head of Coaching Jerome Jayaratne.
