Dutch tourist who fell off World’s End rescued

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qght287fqls A Dutch tourist who fell off a platform at World’s End in Horton Plains National Park this morning has been rescued and airlifted to a hospital by the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF).

The tourist who had visited World’s End in the wee hours today reportedly fell off the platform after getting too close to the edge, however managed to avoid falling to his death by grabbing on to foliage blow the platform.

Several other tourists who had accompanied him immediately notified the police regarding the incident while a Bell 212 helicopter was deployed from the Diyatalawa Air Force Camp to assist in rescue efforts.

A four-member team of Regiment Special Force Airmen from the Diyatalawa camp rescued the Dutch national and airlifted him to the Diyatalawa Hospital for treatment to injuries, an air force spokesman said.
