Lanka Lions Sports Club's Awards Ceremony and Dinner Dance

Lanka Lions Sports Club, a Sri Lankan based Sports Club that was inaugurated earlier this year, held its First ever Awards Ceremony and Dinner Dance at Hilton Paddington on Friday the 11th of October 2013. Mr. Chaminda Kularatne, Minister Counsellor for the Sri Lankan High Commission in the UK was the Chief Guest, while Mr. Jack Matharu, Director of Mjm Supplies, Mr. R.Uthayanathan, Director of Riversure Financial Services, Mr. Shiran Almeida, Head of Marketing, FOC, UK, Mr. Shantha Saram, Director of Darren Properties , Mr. K.Narendran and Mr. Gopiraj, Chairman and Secretary of England Tamil Cricket League were the Guest of Honours. This event was a combined event, and was hosted by Lanka Lions Sports Club, Old Lyonians 2nd XI, and Masters Crickets Club of Harrow.

The event started off with a Dance by "Dilini & Clan", followed by the Chairman of Lanka Lions Sports Club, welcoming the guest and handed it over to the comperes Shakeer Nawas and Srirangan Balakumar to conduct the events ably assisted by the Co-Ordinatrs Kusal Kulasinghe and Mahesh Piyasena.

The first sets of awards were the batting awards followed by the bowling awards. The entire Masters Cricket Club Team were then honoured for their achievements over the season which culminated with them winning the MCCU Tour of Europe T20 award.

Members of Lanka Lions were then felicitated for their achievements of reaching three semi-finals of three different tournaments in their first year followed by awards to Middlesex Championship Division 2:2 League winners Old Lyonians.

After a short break for the starters and Dinner, prepared by our own Chairman, Chef Sihan, the main awards of the night were awarded to the Best Batsman, Best Bowler and Best All Rounder of all three teams along with the Player of the Year for Lanka Lions and Old Lyonians. Pasan Kulasinghe was awarded a special appreciation award for being the biggest fan of Lanka Lions Sports Club.

Appreciation Awards for Sadeep Abeysena for his contribution for Saturday Cricket and Sihan Dangalla for all his contribution to Lanka Lions were given out as the final awards for the night.

The guests were then treated to excellent music by DJ Prasad and Chali and were dancing away till midnight. It was a wonderful event and all guests present, both young and old had a fantastic evening to remember.
