Late Dr Jayalath Jayawardena MP
It is with sadness that the United National Party United Kingdom Branch received the news of the death Dr Jayalath Jayawardena MP on 29 May 2013 at Elizebeth Hospital in Singapore following heart surgery. was born in1953. And had his earlier education at De Mazanod Kandana. he obtained his MBBS medical Degree from Medical Faculty of University of Colombo.

He was elected to SL Parliament in 1994 from the Gampaha District and has been an MP for the past 19years. He was Minister of Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Refuges from 2003 2004. He was also, the Deputy General Secretary of the United National Party in Srilanka for many years. He was a tireless worker and a great supporter who stood by the Policies and principals of the UNP.

Dr JJ was a sole fighter for the downtrodden and would speak out in support of any race in SriLanka. and has made representation in many world forums on behalf of those Srilankan who have suffered human rights abuse in the country.

Dr Jayalath Jayawardena (JJ) will be sadly missed by all members of the United National Party UK Branch as a true friend and a great supporter of the UNP UK BRANCH....May he Rest in Peace.

A Mass in remembrance Of Dr Jayalath Jayawarden MP was held on Sunday 2 June
2013 at St Mary Magdalene's Catholic Church, Willesden Green London NW10. The
service was conducted By Rev Prasad Fernando Sinhala Catholic Chaplin.
