London Buddhist Vihara celebrated the end of Vassana Retreat on the 3rd November 2013 with a large number of devotees attending.

This year the ceremony was sponsored by the Perusinghe sisters, Kumari, Rosey, Kamalanganie, Nalini, Nina, Kusum and there families.

The ceremony commenced with the beating of the Magul Bera ( ceremonial drums) and led by children dressed in white and carrying Buddhist flags, the Kathina Cheevara and other offerings.

Eleven monks from various Sri Lankan temples in and around London attended the ceremony.

The Chief Sangha Nayaka of Great Britain and the Head of The Vihara, Most Ven.Bogoda Ven Seelawimala Thero in his Anusaasana explained the significance and historical and religious values of the Kathina Pinkama. He said that although the Prusinghe family members were the main sponsors of this year's Kathina programme all the devotees who attended the programme equaly become the partners for this annual unique meritorious deed. The recipient of the Katina Cheevara was Ven Thawalama Bandula Thero of LBV, decided according to Buddhist Vinaya by the all monks attended. The ceremony ended with a Dhamma sermon by Ven. Konwewe Ariyarathana thera and Pariththa Chanting by all the monks.

Ven. Konwewe Ariyaratne Thero provided all the necessary advise and monitored the preparation and sewing of the Katina Cheevara. Ven Chandima Thero of LBV was at hand throughout the ceremony to advice and help.

Refreshments were provided to all the lay devotees who attended the ceremony.
