London Nuwara Kavi Samaajaya

The inaugural meeting of the Sinhala Poetry Circle In London 'London Nuwara Kavi Samajaya' was held at the Sri Lanka High Commission on 30th July with the participation of more than hundred and twenty poetry lovers.

The meeting was graced by the High Commissioner Dr. Chris Nonis who emphasised the importance of Sinhalese art and poetry away from Sri Lanka. Well known poet and lyrics writer Ven Konwewe Ariyarathana, Veteran journalist Daya Ananda Ranasinghe, Solicitor Anura Hegoda and Prof. T. S. Abeywickrema delivered speeches on various aspects on Sinhalese poetry. Suneetha Perera and Chandana Fonseka's poetry signing added more color to the event. Asiri Bandara, a well known compeer and mathematician hosted the evening.
