Mahamaya Night 2016

19 Mar 2016 386 photos

Inaugural 'Mahamaya Night 2016' organized by Mahamaya OGA UK Branch.

“Mahamaya Night” Inaugural Dinner Dance was organised by the UK Old Girls’ Association of Mahamaya Girls’ College Kandy, in order to raise funds for the College, was held in Holiday Inn Hotel at Wembley on 5th March 2016, to the rhythms of the most sought after Sri Lankan Band, Exceed, and was followed by a sumptuous buffet. The Dance was a huge success and was sold out long before the event date.
The College flag in its striking blue and yellow colours hung proudly at the entrance as a reminder of traditions from yesteryear. The hugely popular Holiday Inn was the perfect location for it - an elegant décor of beautiful lanterns, beads and flowers, chairs draped with blue and gold bows, enhanced the ambience of the surroundings. It was a glamorous night which began with college songs and was magnified with the added glitz of well-dressed guests.

Exceed entertained the guests with a rousing rendition and kept the dance floor packed throughout with a combination of music catering to each and everyone's taste until late hours. Everyone present that night was able to renew old friendships, make new and lasting ones and feel comfortable to have a good time.

Mrs Chandrani Pattapola, President of the OGA UK Branch, welcomed the 250+ gathering and expressed her sincere appreciation for gracing the occasion, whilst highlighting her Alma Mater’s role in producing many highly talented and qualified young adults spread all around the world over eight decades. She also expressed her thanks for the dedication for the tremendous job done to make it a great success by the Organising Committee that comprised of Manel Ranasinghe, Oshadie Korakahagoda, Manjula Mahanama, Nisansala Liyanage, Nirmala Karunaratne, Anupama Weerasinghe, Tanuja Kumari, Ayeshika Perera, Nalika Nanayakkara, Shiromani Ranasinghe and Wasantha Bandaranayake. Nawini Perera, the Secretary, delivered the vote of thanks.

This hugely successful and enjoyable Dance was concluded by the crowd singing the Sri Lankan National Anthem. Undoubtedly, it was an exquisitely presented event organized by a fantastic committee whose tireless efforts paid rich dividends.
