Past Pupils Association of Visakha-UK - Annual General Meeting 2014
The 31st Annual General Meeting of the Past Pupils Association of Visakha was held on Sunday 23rd March 2014 at the Rising Sun Restaurant in Sudbury Hill..

The president Mithra Gajraj commenced the proceedings by welcoming and thanking the members. The joint secretary Mala Polpitiye reported the success of this year and recounted the various events beginning with the Founders Day celebrations at the London Buddhist Vihara, the sponsored walk supporting the Sunera Foundation in the Batticoloa area, the Visakha Ball at Sandown Park, and Visakha Nite at Holiday Inn Wembley (both new venues) as the grand finale for a very rewarding year.

The treasurer Shona Samarasinghe presented the audited accounts. An update on the Scholarship project was given by Chandani Rekers highlighting that the number of bursaries awarded is 222 to date. President, Mithra, was delighted to report that nearly £8346 was raised for the benefit of the school and for the chosen charity in Sri Lanka through several successful and enjoyable events. She thanked the committee, members and friends of Visakha who made all this possible. She welcomed the new members very warmly and invited them to participate in all future events.

At the election of the new committee Dr Kanthi Raveendran was elected the president. Kanthi thanked the outgoing president and the committee for the very successful year they have seen through and said that she will continue with the good work they carried out.

Outgoing joint secretary Indramala Dhanaratne read a message from the Patron Lakshmi De Zoysa MBE who was not able grace the occasion. Lakhsmi was full of praise for the out going president, Mithra Gajraj and the committee for the very successful year. Meeting was followed by a buffet dinner. The large number of members present was joined by friends and families at the dinner.
