"Sapphire 2014"

The Sapphire Ball 2014, hosted by Imperial College Sri Lankan Society, proved to be yet another unforgettable night! The annual charity dinner and dance, held at the grand London Hilton Metropole on the 1ST march, provided over 800 guests with entertaining music, dazzling visuals and mouthwatering authentic food. All proceeds from the event went to “Medical Aid to Sri Lanka”, to provide support and sustenance to those who live in hardship in Sri Lanka.

The committee, lead by co-presidents Indula Bopitiya (3rd year medicine) and Nipun Wickramasundara (4th year mechanical engineering) worked tirelessly to ensure a mesmerize night for all who attended. Due to popular demand, Youtue sensation JehanR, returned to host for his second year. The line up of artists included the baila legend Desmond De Silva and the popular band, Exceed. The vocal mastermind, Ranidu also introduced his new genre “Bailatronic” for everyone to witness. BBC Radio One’s DJ Nihal and returning DJ Andy P really got the crowd going in the new extended after-party.

As always the bar has been set high for Sapphire 2015, but Imperial never fail to impress. Sapphire 2015 will undoubtedly be a night not to be missed!
