The Sinhala Welfare Association celebrated its 21st New Year show (Bakmaha Ulela) on 28 April 2013 at Plashet School, East Ham. This was one of the best New Year shows organised by the Sinhala Welfare Association. The significance of this event is our past members being rejoined with the organisation to uplift this event and the committee members who have worked tirelessly to make the event a success.
Our invited guests were Ven. Gunnepane Sumanarama, Ven. Panamure Thappassi, the Sri Lankan High Commissioner Dr Chris Nonis, MP Stephen Timms, Bank of Ceylon manager Mr Nimal Fernando, Dr Wijekoon and Mrs Wijekoon.
The event was filled with traditional games, dance, drama etc. The amazing crowed of 350+ were entertained by young professional musicians such as Susantha Fernando.
The event was lit by compereΓ’β¬β’s Nilusha Dolewatte, Ishanga Wijewardana, Dilini Lokuaddassuriyage and Gayan Mahawatha. I take this opportunity to thank each and everyone who supported to bring this event to success.
