The 30th Anniversary Ball organised by the Past Pupils Association of Visakha (U.K) was held at Sandown Park, Esher, Surrey on 19th October. The Autumn Ball is the main event in the PPAV (UK) calendar as it focuses on raising money for bursaries. The bursaries help with the university education of Visakhians who excel in their Advanced Level examinations but need financial support.

Members of the committee had worked tirelessly to make the event a great success. The elegant and simple flower decorations made the Equus Suite more glamorous. The Ball souvenir was designed to highlight the 'pearl' anniversary and also to capture reminiscences of the past years. It contained colourful images of charity, religious and community events as well as work done to support Visakha Vidyalaya in Sri Lanka.

The night started with a champagne reception followed by a 4 course dinner. A presentation was shown during dinner on screens around the hall which captured the numerous events held by the PPAV (UK). All the speeches were short and sweet so guests had more time to dance the night away. There was pin drop silence during the raffle draw, with guests eagerly awaiting their ticket number to be called out. There was an impressive array of gifts with the first prize being a return air ticket to Sri Lanka. Denzil and Suresh of the 'The Breeze' kept the crowd on their toes throughout the night with a variety of music suitable for all age groups. The night came to an end with the singing of the School Song and the Sri Lankan and United Kingdom National Anthems.

It was indeed a pleasure being part of the occasion - a truly fun filled night with great camaraderie.
