A collection of events hosted by the Letchworth Buddhist vihara came to a successful conclusion on Sunday 18th May. Earlier events to commemorate the Birth, enlightenment, and passing of the Lord Buddha this Vesak included two separate βsilβ programmes as well as a vesak day Buddha Vandana. Sunday displayed the colourful efforts of the children of the dhamma school with a Wesak lantern competition with prizes awarded by the chief guest MR H.M.K Herath from the SLHC. The competition was also accompanied by a bhakti gee compilation performed by both adults and children. A dhamma talk was given by Mr Simon Bough, as well as a sermon by Athi Pujya Mathugama Palitha Thero on the Lord Buddhaβs unchanging βgunaβ.
A traditional βdansalβ in which alms are given to devotees, was supplied by members of the temple who provided a meal for all who attended.
