A police investigations in underway over reports of a loud noise heard across several areas including Anuradhapura.
Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana, speaking to Newsfirst, said the respective police stations in the areas have been instructed to look into the reports. He added however, that the reason for the noise is yet to be ascertained.
Residents of several areas of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Trincomalee say that they have seen a mysterious glow in the sky on Monday, August 11 night and heard a loud noise.
According to our correspondents, the loud noise was heard between 8 and 9 p.m. Reports from Anuradhapura say that a bright light was visible in several areas.
