President Rajapaksa declares open four MTLs in Badulla

President Mahinda Rajapaksa declared open four more newly constructed Mahindodaya Technical Laboratories (MTLs) at the Udawela Madya Maha Vidyalaya, Kendagolla Navodya Maha Vidyalaya, Badulla Central College, Badulla Saraswathi Tamil Vidyalaya and the Highland Tamil School of the Badulla District in the Uva Province.


The President arrived in the morning for the opening of five MTLs amidst the warm greetings of the school children and teachers. At those opening ceremonies the President points out that the government has taken measures to provide education to all the children of the nation irrespective of their background. He further said that the government has vested the MTLs in the children to take the next generation of the Uva Province to the modern world, in education as well as information technology. The President also requested all the students to take maximum benefit from these privileges given by the government.


The President who inspected these Laboratories also made inquiries into the educational activities of the students and had cordial discussions with them. Each of these MTL consists of a computer lab with 40 computers, language lab with 20 computers a science laboratory and mathematics unit with all the modern technology and other facilities for secondary education. So far 80 such Mahindodaya schools have been established in the Uva Province alone.



On hearing about the President’s arrival, the people in the surrounding areas of all schools eagerly gathered to pay their respect and tribute to the President. They extended their enthusiastic wishes to the President. The President also did not forget to mingle with the crowds at every location and make inquiries into their wellbeing.


Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena, External Affairs Minister G.L.Peiris and many local politicians and a large gathering joined in these events.
