Devi Balika Past Pupils Association: "High Tea with a Difference"
The Past Pupils Association of Devi Balika organised a "High Tea with a Difference" on Sunday 3rd August 2014. The event, held at the residence of the President, Mrs Jeeva Disanayake, was to raise funds for the scholarships given to Past Pupils of Devi Balika who are pursuing studies in Sri Lankan universities and are facing financial difficulties. The sixty guests spread out into Jeeva's well-kept and colourful garden. It was a perfect summer day for being outdoors and the umbrellas shaded the guests whilst they enjoyed the finger buffet, salads, cakes and desserts, prepared so caringly by the 'Old Devians'. The wide variety of dishes - Sri Lankan, Mediterranean, English - catered for the multinational guests who came from both near and far. The guests leapt out of their seats when the musicians played baila and the green grass turned into a dance floor. A raffle, with gifts donated by past pupils, added further to the scholarship fund. Altogether it was a memorable Sunday and we hope the first of many.
