JANAHANDA FOUNDATION WORKING FOR COMMUNITY IN UK

Sri Lanka Janahanda foundation,UK (the voice of Sri Lankans living in UK) was invited to a speech made by Labour Party Deputy Leader, Harriet Harman MP. 

The speech was in line with the differences between a Britain in 2020, and the better future that Labour, under Ed Miliband's leadership after winning the next election. The speech promised a better and more economical future and also as representatives of the borough of Hounslow and Sri Lankans living in the UK we were able to upraise questions as to the NHS system that fails, job security and help in the housing systems for low income families.The Labour Future Action on the cost of living, with a freeze on energy bills, expanded free childcare, an increase in the minimum wage and a lower 10p starting rate of income tax to help millions of people on lower and middle incomes, action on the NHS and for schools.

The speech was held at Pitzhanger Gallery & House, Walpole Park, Mattock lane, Ealing. W5 on 26th August 2014

We were extremely privileged to have been invited to the speech and for the opportunity to have been recognized among other borough Councillors along with other organisations representing their constituency. The speech was attended by Mr Sri Lal Dias, the president of the organisation and Mr Nimesh Wickremesinghe secretary to the foundation. 

The speech was chaired by Mrs Harriet Harman (Deputy leader for Labour), MP Virendra Sharma (Ealing Southall) Ms Rupa Huq (Labour candidate for Ealing Central & Acton 2015), Dr Onkar Sahota (Member of London Assembly Ealing & Hillingdon) Cllr Julian Bell Labour Leader of Ealing Council.

Other guests and councillors across the Middlesex county were also present at the event.
