Mahamaya Nite 2018

Mahamaya Nite 2018 was held on Saturday the 17th of March at Holiday Inn, Wembley in true Mayan style.

In contrast to the cold and snowy landscape outside, the evening was a warm, colourful and vibrant one made so by all those who patronised the event.

The Welcome speech delivered by Wasantha Bandaranayake, the President of the Past Pupils Association of Mahamaya Girls' College, Kandy, UK Branch, took a trip down memory lane, paid homage to the Alma Mater for shaping who the Mayan ladies are today and highlighted the true team spirit and camaraderie of the organising committee who helped make the event a reality in a most enjoyable way.

The Sri Lankan, Latin American and Bollywood themed dance performances of the night certainly kept everyone’s toes tapping and the music by Exceed, true to their style, kept the crowds delighted and on the dance floor!

For the second time around, the Holiday Inn Wembley proved to be an ideal venue and provided a delicious Sri Lankan themed menu whilst decor by Mayan Nilanthi of Suice Flora dazzled as always.

Memories and moods of the night were immortalized by Praneeth Hettiarachchi through his wonderful photography.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Gangadarie Kumarasekara, the Secretary of the Association, thereby concluding an unforgettable evening.

Kudos to the hard working and dynamic organising committee which comprised of President Mrs Wasantha Bandaranayake, Secretary Mrs Gangadarie Kumarasekara, Treasurer Dr Manjula Mahanama, Patron Mrs Manel Lenora Ranasinghe, Vice President Ms Thushara Samarathunga, Assistant Secretary Mrs Nisansala Liyanage, Assistant Treasurer Mrs Nilanthi Punchihewa, Mrs Chandrani Pattapola, Dr Anupama Weerasinghe, Mrs Tanuja Karunaratne, Ms Nawini Perera, Mrs Lakmini Seneviratne, Mrs Ayshika Perera, Mrs Oshadi Korakahagoda, Mrs Lankendra De Silva, Mrs Shiromani Ranasinghe, Mrs Menaka Akarawita and Dr Sanji Goonasekara.
