Birmingham Buddhist Maha Vihara New Temple Building Fund ticket launching ceremony at Sri Lanka High Commission - London

A special ticket launching ceremony was held at Sri Lanka High Commission in London on Saturday 12 March at 4.00 pm in order to raise funds for Birmingham Buddhist Maha Vihara new temple building and community centre.
The ceremony was graced by the Acting High Commissioner to U.K. His Excellency Mr.Sugeeshwara Gunarathne as well as Minister Administration and Consular Mr.Niranjan Pathirathne and counsellor Mr.Manoj Warnapala. Ven.Dr.Witharandeniye Kassapa O.B.E. Head of the Birmingham Buddhist Maha Vihara and the Vice-President of Sri Lanka Sangha Sabha of Great Britain, Ven.Dr.Mahamithawa Pannarathana - Deputy Head of the Maha Vihara, Mr.Yann and Mrs.Ann Lovelock, Secretary of the Maha Vihara management committee and Mr.Hirantha Kaluarachchi who is the architect of designing of this special fund raising ticket also participated from Birmingham.

Mr.Janaka Alahapperuma, President of the British Sri Lankan Forum and the executive committee member of the Maha Vihara and Mr.Yann Lovelock welcomed the audience and explained the intention and the importance of this fund raising project. Mr Lovelock further explained the invaluable services provided so far from the Maha Viharaya and the importance of teaching Buddhist philosophy at this new community centre enriching people's lives and occupying their time with many activities that bring together large diversities of people from within the community in Birmingham and surrounding areas in West Midlands.
Ven.Dr.Witharandeniye Kassapa Nayaka Thero delivered his anusasana and thanked all the Maha Vihara devotees live in London and those who have provided their generous support for this new building construction project. Ven Thero also thanked the Acting High Commissioner and the Sri Lanka High Commission staff for providing the premises for the ceremony. Most Ven Bogoda Seelawimala Nayaka Thero, Head of London Buddhist Vihara and Chief Sanga Nayaka of Great Britain and Ven Konwewa ariyaratne thero also attended the ceremony.

Mr.Anura Jayasuriya head of Call Ceylon U.K. Limited sponsored this project by bearing the printing cost of the tickets and leaflets. Mr. Hirantha Kaluarachchi thanked for all participants for their support and generosity at this great venture.

බර්මින්හැම් මහාවිහාරයට ආධාර පතයි

යුරෝපයේ විශාලතම ථෙරවාද බෞද්ධ විහාරස්ථානය ලෙසින් අභිනවයෙන් ඉදිකිරීමට සැලසුම් කර ඇති බර්මින්හැම් මහාවිහාරයේ නව ගොඩනැඟිලි අරමුදල සඳහා බරපැන උපයාගැනීමේ අරමුණෙන් විශේෂ ආධාර පත්‍රයක් හඳුන්වාදීමේ වැඩසටහනක් පසුගියදා ලන්ඩන් නුවර ශ්‍රී ලංකා මහා කොමසාරිස් කාර්යාලයේදී පැවැත්විණි.

ශ්‍රී ලාංකික බෞද්ධ වාස්තු විධ්යාත්මක හැඩතල පිළිබිඹුවන අන්දමට අලුතෙන් ඉදිකෙරෙන විහාර මන්ධිරයේ ප්‍රධාන අංගයක් ලස අනුරාධපුර රුවන්වැලි මහා සෑයේ දැවැන්ත අනුරුවක් ඉදිකෙරෙයි. ශ්‍රී ලාංකික විහාරස්ථානයක සැලැස්ම විදහා දැක්වෙන විහාර මන්ධිරයක් බ්‍රිතාන්‍යයේ ඉදිවෙන පළමුවන අවස්තාව මෙයයි.

ආධාර පත්‍රය හඳුන්වාදීමේ උත්සවය සඳහා මහා බ්‍රිතාන්‍යයේ ප්‍රධාන සංඝ නායක ලන්ඩන් බෞද්ධ විහාරාධිපති පුජ්‍ය බෝගොඩ සීලවිමල නාහිමි, බර්මින්හැම් මහාවිහාරාධිපති, මහා බ්‍රිතාන්‍යයේ ශ්‍රී ලංකා සංඝ සභාවේ උප සභාපති ඕබීඊ නාමධාරී පුජ්‍ය ආචාර්ය විතාරන්දෙණියේ කස්සප නාහිමි ඇතුළු මහා සංඝරත්නය, වැඩ බලන ශ්‍රී ලංකා මහා කොමසාරිස් සුගීශ්වර ගුණරත්න, තානාපති නිලධාරින් වන නිරන්ජන් පතිරත්න, මනෝජ් වර්ණපාල, බර්මින්හැම මහාවිහාර පාලක මණ්ඩලයේ ලේකම් යාන් ලව්ලොක්, ඈන් ලව්ලෝක් සහ හිරන්ත කළුආරච්චි ඇතුළු විශාල පිරිසක් සහභාගී වුහ.
බ්‍රිතාන්‍ය ශ්‍රී ලංකා සංසදයේ සභාපති සහ බර්මින්හැම් මහාවිහාර පාලන මණ්ඩල සාමාජික ජනක අලහප්පෙරුම සහ බර්මින්හැම් මහාවිහාර පාලක මණ්ඩලයේ ලේකම් යාන් ලව්ලොක් පැමිණසිටි පිරිස පිළිගනිමින් ආධාර එකතුකිරීමේ අවශ්‍යතාවය සහ වැදගත්කම පිලිබඳ විස්තර කරමින් කතා කළහ.

විහාරාධිපති පුජ්‍ය ආචාර්ය විතාරන්දෙණියේ කස්සප හිමියෝ අනුශාසනාව පවත්වමින් බර්මින්හැම් මහාවිහාරයේ කටයුතු සඳහා නිරන්තරයෙන් සහභාගිවන අතහිතදෙන සියලුම දෙනාට පුන්‍යානුමොදනා කළහ. බ්‍රිතාන්‍යයේ දෙවන ප්‍රධාන නඟරය ලෙස සැලකෙන බර්මින්හැම් නුවර පිහිටි ප්‍රධානතම ථෙරවාද බෞද්ධ විහාරය වඩාත් ඉඩපහසුකම් ඇතිව නවීකරණය කිරීමේ
අවශ්‍ය තාවය පිළිබඳව විස්තර කල උන්වහන්සේ ඒ සඳහා ආධාර ලබාගැනීමේ අරමුණෙන් පටන්ගන්නා ලද වැඩපිළිවෙලෙහි සමාරම්භය පැවැත්වීම සඳහා පහසුකම් සපයාදීම පිළිබඳව වැඩ බලන ශ්‍රී ලංකා මහකොමසාරිස් සුගීශ්වර ගුණරත්න ඇතුළු කාර්යමණ්ඩලයටත්, ගොඩනැඟිලි කටයුතු කරගෙන යාම සඳහා මුල්‍යමය ආධාර සැපයීම ඇතුළු සෑම අයුරකින්ම සහායවන සැමටත් උත්සවය සඳහා සහභාගිවූ මහා සංඝරත්නය ඇතුළු සියලුම දෙනාටත් ස්තුතිය පුද කළහ.
