A special religious ceremony was held at the London Buddhist Vihara on June 9 in memory of the late TV personality, Hema Nalin Karunarathne. TV producer, Anoma Wattaladeniya, who worked with Hema Nalin at Rupavahini, former Rupavahini cameraman, Janaka Jayasekera and the late artiste's friends in London attended the ceremony organised by Bhuminda Karunatillake. Conducting the religious observances, Head of London Buddhist Vihara and Chief Sanga Nayaka of Great Britain, Most Ven. Bogoda Seelawimala Nayaka Thera said that he didn't have an opportunity of associating with Hema Nalin, but had about his virtuous qualities. Talking at the event, Ms. Wattaladeniya said that she was privileged to have worked with Hema Nalin, who was very talented. "Tears flow when I recall the good times working together at Rupavahini", she said. She said that she was saddened to read some of the baseless stories published on some websites about Hema Nalin. "I am scared to die thinking what these websites will publish about me after I am no more". As the news came from Sri Lanka that veteran writer Somaweera Senanayake had died, merits were also transferred to him during the religious ceremony.
