This year the invitation to observe the Vassana Retreat for the resident monks at the Sri Saddhatissa International Buddhist Centre was extended by Mr and Mrs Athula De Silva, Mr and Mrs B.H. Jayawardena, Mr and Mrs Manju Wickramarachichi and Mr and Mrs Ajith Rohana Pathiranage on behalf of the devotees on 26 July 2015.
As customary, the resident monks undertook the 3 month Vassana retreat at the end of the Esala Full Moon Poya Day on Friday 31st July 2015 . The resident monks observing Vas are besides Aggamahapandita Ven. Galayaye Piyadfassi Sangha Nayaka Thero, Ven.( Dr) HanduPelpola Mahinda Nayaka Thero, VE. Nagala Upananda Thero,Ven. Waskaduwe Subodhi Thero, Ven. Ketiyape Amithasara Thero, Ven. Nepale Sumana Thero, Ven. Medirigiriye Pemananda Thero, Ven. Godamunne Piyananda Thero, Ven. Galayaye Dhammadassi Thero.
During this Vassana period, a programme of Nava Arahadi Buduguna Pujava has been arranged for every Sunday at 7.00 PM and devotees have already undertaken to sponsor all the 13 Pujavas.
The Atavisi Buddha Pujava at the end of the Vassana period will be held on 31st October and the Kathina Offering ceremony is scheduled for 1st November 2015.
