The Conservative party VIPs met the Sri Lanka supporters of the of Hendon constituency, in the Borough of Barnet. Many years ago Mrs Margret Thatcher represented Finchley in the borough and it is a well known Borough for excellent schools and good services to the community.

The Sri Lanka conservative supporters were among the group that were invited to meet the Mayor of London, Mr Boris Johnson on April first, 2015 at Hartley Hall, Mill Hill NW 7. Mrs Rupa Monerawela was thanked by the mayor for her telephone canvassing in support of the conservative Candidate for Hendon, Mr Mathew Offord. At her request Mr Boris Johnson posed for a photograph which she said would be sent to her two grandchildren, Tarita and Surin.

Last month there was another opportunity to meet the Hon. Justine Greening. She spoke of the improved relations between the two countries with the new government in Sri Lanka. There was a frank discussion about the many issues faced by the Sri Lanka community in the years before and after the end of the 29 year war with the LTTE. The Sri Lankans present, thanked their indefatigable member of parliament for his excellent work done for all the communities in Hendon.
