The Thomian’s Nite 2026 brought elegance, music, and community spirit together in a memorable evening last week, as members of the Matale Old Thomians’ Association UK hosted one of their most anticipated annual gatherings.

Held at the stylish Crystal Grand, the event welcomed a vibrant crowd of alumni, families, and distinguished guests. Guests arrived dressed in formal attire, embracing the evening’s elegant dress code. The atmosphere quickly came alive with laughter, reunions, and a shared sense of nostalgia among Thomians reconnecting after years apart.

A major highlight of the night was the attendance of HE Nimal Senadheera, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the UK, adding a distinguished presence to the celebration. Entertainment was provided by Hasthi Live Band, whose energetic mix of music kept the dance floor alive throughout the evening. From classic hits to modern favorites, their performance created an electrifying vibe that resonated with guests of all ages.

The event was not just about entertainment—it also reflected a strong sense of community and togetherness. Families attended in large numbers, with activities and a welcoming environment ensuring even the youngest guests felt part of the celebration.

Special congratulations go to Suminda Ekanayake, President of the association, along with the dedicated committee, for organizing such a spectacular and well-executed event. Their hard work and commitment were evident in every detail, making the evening a true success.

As the night came to a close, guests left with unforgettable memories, already looking forward to the next gathering. Events like this continue to strengthen the bonds within the Thomian community abroad, celebrating heritage while creating new moments together.
