Expressing his views to Hiru news team over the phone, he stated that on the 24th of September he was subjected to an assault in New York by the External Affairs Ministry Monitoring MP Sajin Vass Gunawardena.
He added that on the same day he met President Mahinda Rajapaksa in New York and handed over his letter of resignation.
Doctor Chris Nonis further said that his letter of resignation has been accepted yesterday.
