Sri Lanka to hold Defence Chiefs' Dialogue

Sri Lanka will hold a Defence Chiefs' Dialogue for the first time by bringing together South and Southeast Asian nations, to strengthen security and stability in the region as Asia is the centre of growth, Chief of Defence Staff General Jagath Jayasuriya said. The first session of the South and South East Asian Nations' Conference of Defence Chiefs' will be held from November 27 to 29.

The Chief of Defence Staff made this observation at a press conference at the Chief of Defence Staff Office at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) on the Defence Chiefs' Dialogue 2014 of the South And Southeast Asian Nations.

He said that 18 countries in the region will participate in the Defence Chiefs' Dialogue while China and Russia will be observers.
