Veteran cinematographer Andrew Jayamanne passes away

Veteran cinematographer, Film & television director & producer, Andrew Jayamanne passed away in Italy today.

He was 71 years at the time of his demise.

He who was born on November 9, 1943 at Negombo was introduced as a director of photography to the main stream Sri Lankan cinema with the film ‘Haralakshaya’ of Mr. Titus Thotawatte in 1962.  He worked as an assistant cameraman at the Vijaya Studio during that time.

Andrew was the first cinematographer for ITN’s television series including ‘Kopi Kade’ and ‘Dharmadikaranaya’. In addition to these he worked as the cinematographer for about fifteen other tele-dramas.

He has directed several documentaries as well.

A member of the family stated that the date of the funeral will be informed in future.
