Visakha Nite 2015

The elegantly decorated Empire suite at the Holiday Inn, Wembley, was the venue to Visakha Nite - a fitting finale to a wonderful year for the Association of Visakha Alumni in the UK.

This is the second major fund raiser in the annual social calendar of the PPA Visakha UK. Over the years similar events have contributed towards major school projects and the bursary scheme is one of the major beneficiaries. This scheme initially provided financial support for just one pupil and 30 years on we have supported over 200 students through university, selected on both ability and need.

This well attended event held on Saturday 21st February 2015 bore all the hallmarks of the quality and elegance expected of functions organised by this Association. The décor and flower arrangements set the ambience for the event and guests were serenaded with wonderful music by Denzil, Suresh and the Breeze.

Following a pre-dinners reception the guests were welcomed and invited to take to the dance floor. The Asian buffet was varied and delectable. The President of the Visakha PPA UK, Dr Kanthi Ravindran, was introduced to address the guests and formally open the dance

In no time the dance floor was packed with enthusiastic and flamboyant dancers of all ages. A short break for the raffle draw followed and the patron, Mrs. Lakshmi De Zoysa, gave away the prizes. The evening concluded with the school song and national anthems.
