Who are we?

Our charity, Athula Dassana Multicultural Buddhist Community Centre, currently supports over 50 children in their path of education. We target our help to ensure that the students remain unhinged by the unfair burdens of life during their journey of education.

The Children

The safety of a home and the love of our parents are common comforts we are surrounded with and take for granted. Looking back at our childhood, we can remember the emotional and financial support we received from our loved ones. They helped educate us and gave us the means to build our lives.

Yet, these are no more than distant dreams for the most under privileged children in Sri Lanka. The love of parents is a stranger to those who were abandoned in childhood. The few that have parents are trapped in an economic struggle.

Despite all their struggles, they are no different to you and me. These are bright children full of potential. Education is their only ticket to a beautiful life. Therefore, our mission is to prove these children with the means to a good education.

How can you help?

We encourage you to sponsor one or more children in their journey of education. You can do so by making a single sponsorship of £60, which will support one child through the year.

Your sponsorship of £60 will cover the following:

-       School uniforms including shoes, water bottles, caps, umbrellas and schoolbags.

-       Books and stationaries, which have been standardized by their respective schools.

-       The children and their family receive a trip to visit Colombo. This allows them to experience a contrast against the rural towns and villages that they are familiar with.

Many children and their families have never been to the capital. As such, this trip is educational, and fuels their inspiration to succeed.

Take a moment to imagine where you would be had it not been for the education you received….
