Felicitation Ceremony held in House of Commons for the Members of Janahanda Foundation.

It was a memorable and happy day for the members of Janahanda Foundation because of the celebration held in the House of Commons on Tuesday 13th October from 5-7pm. This event was about recognizing and celebrating the achievements of the Hounslow Janahanda Foundation over the last 10 years. It was a great opportunity for members of the community, councillors and MPs to celebrate the contribution of the Sinhala and Tamil communities in Hounslow to our culture, business and public service. This function was organized by few members of the House of Commons, led by Seema Malthothra, MP for Hounslow and Heston, Ruth Cadbury, MP for Brentford, and Veranda Sharma, M.P for Southall, for the recognition of services rendered by the members of Janahanda foundation. The felicitation ceremony was attended by a large gathering of the members of the Parliament, Council Members of Hounslow Borough led by Mayor Malik and religious dignitaries and the local public.

Addressing the gathering Seema malhothra,MP for Shadow chief secretary to the treasury, praised the services provided by the Janahanda Foundation for the last 10 years and promised to continue to support and strengthen the work in the future she also commented on the role played by Mr Sri Lal Dias ,president of Janahanda Foundation. Everybody who were part of this the occasion enjoyed watching a Video which summarised the social work carried out in different parts of Sri Lanka, particularly the distribution of spectacles and wheel chairs to needy people and other special occasions or public events.

In order to mark the occasion M.p Ruth Cadbury, Virendra Sharma, and Mayor of Hounslow Mr malik, made speeches to coincide the occasion and praised the work carried out by Janahanda foundation and promised to help their support for community work in the future too. London Bubbist Vihara Most Venerable Bogoda Seela wimala thro Also made a speech appreciating the Janahanda Foundation's efforts and hard work. He also thanked its members for their role in uplifting the public's spirits by giving them a celebration they would have missed out on if not for the Janahanda Foundation. This was followed by the small reception hosted by Janahanda foundation for those who had gathered in the CPA hall.

All the members who worked hard from the beginning received certificates from the Honourable M.P s and Religious dignitaries and the Mayor of the Hounslow borough. Hounslow Sri Lankan festival has gathered lots of momentum with the participation of different dancing groups in the different parts of the country. Many politicians, religious dignitaries, and many others attached to foreign embassies have been participating for the last 10 years. It is proud to announce that, certain members who joined 10 years ago, have been tirelessly providing their physical and material support for the development of thefoundation. When you analyse the last 10 years progress, you will find that not only have they celebrated New Year festival but also supported people who are less able in numerous ways. Mr Sri Lal Dias addressed the gathering and thanked those who worked hard throughout and the MP'S who provided the continuous support for the success achieved by the Sri Lankan Janahanda Foundation. Miss Larishiya Dias extended the vote of thanks for those who attended the occasion.


THE PROFILE
Hounslow Sri Lanka Janahanda Foundation, UK, was founded in 2005. The organization is the brainchild of its current President, Mr Sri Lal Dias, who hails from Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. The main objective of the Foundation is to serve the welfare needs of Sri Lankans both domiciled in the United Kingdom and the needy people in Sri Lanka. The membership consists of people from all communities in Sri Lanka - Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims. Towards fulfilling its objectives the organization has successfully carried-out the following programmes:

1. Organising the Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations Every Year.

2. Conducting annual singing and musical competitions for Sri Lankans to promote their talents

3. Arranging the screening of Sri Lankan films.

4. Providing required assistance to newly arriving Sri Lankan students and others by way of finding living accommodation, employment, financial assistance, etc.

5. Arranging regular sports activities for Sri Lankans, giving them the opportunity to meet each other and maintain unity and understanding among them.

6. Providing free stationary and other requirements for less able students.

7. Supporting the activities of the Sri Lanka High Commission and the Campaign for Peace and Unity in Sri Lanka (CPUSL), also Sri Lanka Agents terrorism (slat) and Action group engaged in campaigning against terrorism in Sri Lanka and the promotion of peace.

8. Ekwemu-Lanka. Multi Cultural and Musical Show, with British Parliamentarian, Des Browne, Sri Lanka's High Commissioner Nihal Jayasinha in London Deputy High Commissioner P M Hamza, cllr Mr Jagdish Sharma and Hounslow Borough Council and many other Dignitaries Participated the Event as Chief Guests.

9. We have donated 65 wheelchairs to a Army Hospital in Sri Lanka on 07-11-2008

10. We have distributed nearly 250 spectacles for low income families in Yatiyana, at Matara District, in Sri Lanka with the collaboration of Samaraweera Foundation on 09-10-2010.

11. We have distributed 250 Spectacles to poor and low income families in Wahigala, in Matale District, with the participation of Chief Incumbent of Sri Darmaraja Maha Viharaya.on 28-11-2010.

12. We held a Bodipooja pinkama on 17/09/2011 in London to commemorate the Founders day of Anagarika Dharmapala. (Rev Devamitta Dharmapala.)

13. We have distributed 20 Wheelchairs and other goods to poor Tamil families in Vattapalay, in Mutative District, in Sri Lanka, with the Collaboration of V4U Trust http://U.K.in/ july, 2011.

14. Met and discussed with Hon MP Virendra Sharma to develop communal Harmony with other communities particularly with Tamil people living England. 15. Distribution of crutches and spectacles to poor people in Hiripitiyagama, in Anuradhapura district. Sponsored by Sri Jenendrarama Temple most venerable Katambuwagama Dammarathna.

16. Starting of Daham Pasala (religious education) classes for Sri Lankan students held in a Multi Cultural Centre in Hounslow 2014. Providing legal support for immigrants (particularly Sri Lankans) who are not in a position to afford it due to their low income status.

17. We are proud to mention that during the last 10 years we have achieved the above mentioned with the help of our dedicated staff.

හොවුන්ස්ලෝ ශ්රී ලංකා ජනහඬ පදනම එක්සත් රාජධානියේ වෙසෙන ශ්රී ලාංකිකයන් විසින් පිහිටුවා ගන්නා ලද සංවිධානයකි. මීට දස වසරකට පමණ පෙර ඇරඹි ජනහඬ පදනම මේ වනවිට එංගලන්තයේ වෙසෙන ශ්රී ලාංකිකයන්ට මෙන්ම ශ්රී ලංකාවේ වෙසෙන දුගී දුප්පත් ජනතාව වෙනුවෙන් සේවා සලසන ආයතනයකි. විශේෂයෙන් එංගලන්තයේ වෙසෙන ශ්රී ලාංකිකයන් මුහුණ දෙන නීතිමය ගැටළු සහ වෙනත් හදිසි තත්වයන් වලදී ජනහඬ පදනම මැදිහත් වී ඒ සඳහා උදව් උපකාර කිරීම විශේෂයෙන් සඳහන් කළ යුතුමය.

ජනහඬ පදනමේ දස වසර පූර්ණය සැමරීම සහ ඔවුන් ගේ ජනතා මෙහෙවර අගයනු පිණිස පසුගියදා බ්රිතාන්යය පාර්ලිමේන්තු සංකීර්ණය තුලදී ඔවුන් වෙනුවෙන් උපහාර පිදීමක් සංවිධානය කෙරිණි. මෙය සංවිධානය කළේ බ්රිතාන්යය පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්රීවරියන් වන Ruth Cadbury සහ Sheema Malhothra දෙදෙනාය. මෙහිදී ජනහඬ පදනමේ සාමාජිකයන්ට ඇගයීම් සහතික ප්රදානයක්ද සිදු විණි. සභාපති ශ්රී ලාල් ඩයස් මහතා ප්රමුඛ ජනහඬ පදනමේ සාමාජිකයන්, මහා සංඝරත්නය සහ එංගලන්තයේ වෙසෙන ශ්රී ලාංකිකයන් බොහෝ පිරිසක් මේ සඳහා සහභාගි විය.

මෙහිදී අදහස් දැක්වූ මන්ත්රීවරිය කියා සිටියේ ගත වූ දස වසර තුල ජනහඬ පදනමේ සමාජ සත්කාරක කටයුතු ඉතාම ප්රසංශනීය බවත් ඉදිරියේදී තව දුරටත් ජනහඬ පදනම සමඟ එක්ව කටයුතු කිරීමට සූදානම් බවත් ය. ජනහඬ පදනමේ සේවය බ්රිතාන්යය පාර්ලිමේන්තුව තුලදී ඇගයුමට ලක් කිරීම හරහා ඔවුන් ගේ විශිෂ්ට සේවාවට තවත් අගයක් එකතු වන බව බ්රිතාන්යයේ සංඝනායක ලන්ඩන් බෞද්ධ විහාරාධිපති පූජ්ය බෝගොඩ සීල විමල නායක ස්වාමින් වහන්සේ වදාළහ.

ජනහඬ පදනමේ සභාපති ශ්රී ලාල් ඩයස් මහතා ප්රකාශ කළේ ජනහඬ පදනම එංගලන්තයේ වෙසෙන ශ්රී ලාංකිකයන් ගේ ජීවිත වඩා යහපත් කිරීමට මනා පදනමක් දැමූ බවයි. ඉදිරියේදී තව තවත් සමාජ සත්කාරක සේවාවන් ඔස්සේ ජනතා සේවයට කැපවන බව ඔහු වැඩි දුරටත් ප්රකාශ කළේය.
