Janahanda Foundation's New Year Festival 2015

Hounslow Janahanda Foundation celebrated its New year day on 6th of April 2015 at Feltham community college in London borough of Hounslow with the participation of thousands of Srilankan expatriates living in United Kingdom. The New year day event started at 2.00PM with traditional outdoor games for children such as bun race competition, balloon race competition,100M marathon and fancy dress completion and many more. The traditional outdoor games for adults included blind folded, tug of war and 100M marathon.

The second phase of the New Year celebration commenced with lightening of inaugural oil lamp by distinguished guests of Venerable Bogoda Seelawimala Thero, head of the London Buddhist Vihara and chief sangha nayaka of Great Britain,Venerable Koonwewe Ariyarathana Thero, the author and resident monk of London Buddhist Vihara,Dr Singapore Sumanasiri Thero, Seema Malhotra MP for Feltham& Heston, Honuslow west,Virendra Sharma MP for Ealing, Southall, the labour candidate for Brentford and Isleworth Mrs Ruth Cadbury, Councillor Jagdish Sharma MBE and labour leader of the Hounslow council Cllr Steve Curran and about 20 labour councillors from London borough of Hounslow. This function was attended by representatives from various organisations in the UK and all the SriLankan political party representatives based in London.

The welcome speech was made by Solicitor Soorya Samaraweera, the patron of thee foundation after which many guests addressed the audience with interesting speeches.

This was the 10th successive New year celebration organised by janahanda foundation under guidance of Mr Srilal Dias, the president of the janahanda foundation. The 10th successive new year celebration was also so outstanding with presentation of different varieties traditional Srilankan dance produced under direction of Mrs Neetha Rohini Wijewikrama and Kashmi Dissanayaka from Midland Sarasi Dancing Academy and Pujaa Dance by Meraya Almeida.

Janahanda foundation organises new year day celebration every year to stimulate our Srilankan prride and harness community wellbeing. with this idea in mind, organisation did not forget to include some Muslim dance and traditional Tamil dance into this year’s programme.

At the end of main function an amazing musical evening was presented by SIGIRI band in which vocalists like Sanjeewa,Hemantha Kumara, Sunil Wimalarathna,Sunil B perera, Chanaka Mihiranga and Manju pathirana entertained the audience. බටහිර ලන්ඩනයේ සිංහල දෙමල බක්මහ අලුත් අවුරුදු උත්සවය පසුගිය අප්‍රේල් 6 වනි සඳුදා Feltham Community College හිදී ජනහඬ පදනම අවුරුදු උත්සව පැවත්වුනි. ලන්ඩන් බෞද්ධ විහාරාධිපති බෝගොඩ සිලවිමල නාහිමියන් සහ කෝන්වැවේ අරිය රතන හිමියන්ගේ මූලිකත්වයෙන් සහ හන්ස්ලෝ පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී ශීමා මල්හොත්ට්‍රි සහ නගරාධිපති හා නාගරික මන්ත්‍රීවරුන්ද ඇතුලු ශ්‍රී ලාංකිකයින් විශාල පිරිසකගේ සහභාගිත්වයෙන් පැවති මෙම අවුරුදු උළෙල ශ්‍රී ලාංකීය සංස්කෘතික නැටුම් - ගැයුම් වලින් පිරුනු ඉතා අලංකාර උත්සව අවස්තාවක් වීය. දහවල් 2.00 සිට එලිමහන් රංග පීටයේ ඇරඹුනු ශ්‍රී ලාංකීය සම්ප්‍රධායික ළමා හා වැඩිහිටියන්ගේ තරඟ මාලාවලින් පසුව පස්වරු 5.00 සිට Community College රඟහල තුලදී සංස්කෘතික නැටුම් ගැයුම් වලින් උත්සව ශාලාව ආලෝකමත් වී ගියේය.

ජනහඬ පදනම ප්‍රජා කොමිටිය විසින් දසවනි වරටත් සංවිධාන කරන ලද මෙවර අවුරුදු උළෙල පිලිගනිමින් සභාව ඇමතූ සභාපති ශ්‍රී ලාල් ඩයස් මහතා වසර 10 ක් තිස්සේ තමන් ඇතුලු ජනහඬ පදනම ප්‍රජා කොමිටි සමාජිකයින් පිරිස උත්සාහ ගනිමින් සිටිනුයේ විදෙස් ගතව සිටියත් අපගේ සංස්කෘතික සිරිත් විරිත් අනාගත පරපුර තුල ඇතිකිරීමට බව කියා සිටියේය. එමන්ම මෙවනි සිංහල - දෙමල අලුත් අවුරුදු උත්සව වැනි ජාතික වැදගත් කමක් ගෙන දෙන උත්සව පැවත්වීමෙන් ජාතික සමගියක් ඇතිකිරීමට හොඳ අවස්තාවක් වනු ඇතයිද ලාල් ඩයස් මහතා මෙහිදී පැවසීය. පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රිනී ශීමා මල්හොත්ත්‍රි ජගිත් ශර්මා ඇතුලු නගර සභා මන්ත්‍රීවරුන් රැසක් ඇතුලු නීතිඤ සූරියා සමරසේකර මහත්මියද සිය කෘතවේදී අදහස් දක්වා සිටියේය.ජනහඬ පදනම විසින් සංවිදානය කරන ලද මෙම 10 වනි පූර්ණ අලුත් අවුරුදු උළෙල ශ්‍රී ලාංකීය සංගීත නාදයෙන් වර්නවත් වුනු ප්‍රසංගය සංජීව හා ලිලානි පෙරෙරා ඇතුලු ලන්ඩනයේ වෙසෙන දක්ෂ සංගීත ශිල්පීන් රැසකගේ එකමුතුවෙන් මධ්‍යම රාත්‍රිය දක්වා පැවත්වුනි.
