Ranil Jayawardena MP: It's terrible to read about the recent flooding in Sri Lanka.

According to The Guardian, more than 135,000 people have been driven out of their homes. The Telegraph further reported that soldiers and police are, in places, "using sticks and bare hands to dig through enourmous piles of mud covering houses".

As Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Sri Lanka, I have written to the Secretary of State for International Development, The Rt. Hon. Justine Greening, M.P., asking her to look at what the UK Government can do to help.
