East London Buddhist Cultural Centre (Lumbini Vihara) held it’s annual Katina ceremony on Sunday 24th October at the Temple premises at 33, Maybury Road, London E13 8 RZ.

A large number of Buddhist Monks representing several Buddhist temples in the UK and Sri Lanka participated in this ceremony. Most notable of these was the participation of Most Venerable Uduwe Dhammaloka thero from Allen Mathiniyaramaya in Sri Lanka and the Most Venerable Bogoda Seelawimala thero of London Buddhist Vihara and the chief Sanganayaka in the UK.

In addition to the Buddhist monks over 300 lay devotees participated in this ceremony and they were all treated to a sumptuous midday meal by the organisers.

This year’s Katina ceremony of the Lumbini Vihara was organised by the entire committee of East London Buddhist Cultural Centre.
