On Monday the 29th of December 2025, the organising committee of the Festival of Cricket (FOC) and its benefactors got together to collect £5400 for the Sri Lanka Disaster Relief fund, working together with the Sri Lankan High Commission in the UK.
The cheque for the sum of £5400 was handed over through a delegation of FOC by the president, Mr. Krishan Bulathsinghala, to His Excellency the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the United Kingdom, Mr. Nimal Senadheera, in the presence of the Defence Attaché Brigadier Dilantha Fernando and other representatives of the FOC.
In addition to this primary partnership with the Sri Lankan high commission to donate to the disaster relief fund, FOC is proud to announce that it has annually donated significant sums of funds to Sri Lankan cancer hospitals and related services around the island for the past 35 years, totalling over £75,000.
In August this year, FOC donated SLRs 2 million worth of equipment to the Teaching Hospital in Batticaloa. Also, two more donations, one to the cancer surgical unit at the national hospital in Kandy, for the amount of 2 million, and another of 4 million to the hospitals of Uva and Hambanthota, are being negotiated at the moment.
The organising committee of the FOC wishes to thank all involved in making this donation a reality and the staff of the Sri Lankan High Commission for coordinating and spearheading this worthy cause.
