DABAL UK marked an important milestone on Saturday, 8 August 2026, with the manifest success of its Charity Dinner Dance at Allum Manor, Elstree. The event brought together over 225 guests for an evening of fellowship, entertainment, and, above all, a celebration of charitable work over 22 years.
It was the very first dinner dance hosted by DABAL, which has been raising substantial funds through other means over the span of twenty-two years.
The event was held with one clear purpose in mind: to raise much-needed funds for the 18 schools supported by DABAL across Sri Lanka, providing assistance to pupils who are deaf, blind, or have additional special educational needs. We were particularly honoured that His Excellency, the Sri Lanka High Commissioner to the U.K., Mr Nirmal Senadheera, obliged by serving as the chief guest and enthused the audience with a most pertinent reflection on the volume and value of support delivered by DABAL to children in Sri Lanka over 22 years.
The excellent attendance demonstrated the generosity and continued commitment of the Sri Lankan community in the UK, as well as other friends of DABAL. It was most encouraging to see so many people coming together not simply for an enjoyable evening, but in support of a cause that can make a profound difference to the lives of vulnerable children.
Guests enjoyed the Sri Lankan dinner buffet, music, dancing, entertainment, and the thrill of the Raffle Draw. They were all very appreciative that all profits from the Dinner Dance will go directly towards supporting the 17 schools assisted by DABAL throughout Sri Lanka.
We also extend our sincere gratitude to our sponsors, donors, entertainers, suppliers and everyone who contributed in numerous ways towards making the evening a success.
Above all, DABAL UK wishes to express its profound appreciation to the guests. Every ticket purchased, donation made, and contribution received plays a part in enabling DABAL to continue its work. For those of us involved with DABAL, the success represented far more than a social occasion. It provided an opportunity to raise awareness of the challenges faced by deaf and blind children in Sri Lanka and to demonstrate what can be achieved when a community comes together with a common purpose.
On behalf of DABAL UK, we offer our sincere thanks to everyone who helped make our Inaugural Charity Dinner Dance 2026 such a memorable occasion.
Together, we can continue to make a difference โ one school, one child and one opportunity at a time.
