Quintessentially Royal ~ The Blue & Gold Ball 2026

01 May, 2026
On the evening of Saturday, 25th April 2026, the grandeur and tradition of the Old Royalists’ Association in the UK came to life at the splendid Park Hyatt London Thames, as members and guests gathered for the much-anticipated Blue and Gold Ball—the Association’s flagship annual event.

Overlooking the city’s vibrant riverbank, the Park Hyatt London River Thames with its renowned luxurious atmosphere offered the perfect setting for an evening steeped in elegance, camaraderie, and celebration. On arrival, guests were received by the President Mr Janak Ranasinghe and his Lady, Sureshni Ranasinghe at the ballroom foyer for portraits. From the moment guests arrived, the atmosphere was vibrant, with old friendships rekindled and new connections forged over champagne and conversation in the hotel’s magnificent ballroom foyer with stunning views of the River Thames.

The ballroom, adorned in the association’s colours of blue and gold, provided a stunning backdrop for the festivities. The evening’s formal programme commenced with a sumptuous three-course dinner, complemented by fine wines, Tea, Coffee, Petit fours and spirited company. Dinner was followed by the President proposing the Loyal Toast to His Majesty the King followed by the Toast to The Old Royalists’ Association in the UK. This was followed by a Toast to the Alma mater, Royal College Colombo, delivered by Dr Gnana Sankaralingam.

As the night unfolded, the dance floor came alive to the reverberating music provided by Hasthi. From classic waltzes to lively contemporary hits and popular Sri Lankan Bailas, the entertainment kept guests dancing well into the early hours. A highlight of the evening was the traditional singing of the College Song, honouring the enduring bonds among Royalists and celebrating the legacy of excellence and unity that defines the community.

Beyond the glamour, the event also served a meaningful purpose, raising funds for the Association’s scholarship initiatives and various projects for their Alma Mater. Generous contributions from attendees and sponsors underscored the commitment to giving back and supporting future generations.

As the final notes of music faded and guests bid their farewells, the sentiment was unanimous: the tradition lives on, stronger than ever.
