Shivanandian Evening 2016 Organized by BT PSA / Shivananda Vidayala ( UK Branch )

The Past Students of Batticaloa/RKM Shivananda Vidyalaya has planned and executed the “Shivanandian Evening - 2016” on 14TH May 2016 at the Preston Manor School, Carlton Avenue East, Wembley in London. The cultural Secretary Mr G Kiritharan was well supported by the executive committee especially Mr Hariharnathan with Pop Music, Mr Umachandran with arranging the classical dances and Mr Allen Jeyakumar with PA system to deliver the programmes to a high standard. The evening event included traditional dancing, instrumental music (guitar) drama, Tamil Pop music and street dancing. The Shivanandians in the UK are very proud of promoting cultural activities by engaging with upcoming artists in our community through their Fine Arts Institutions.

Every year this event brings together the expatriate Shivanandians, their families, friends and members and of course the local community. It has always been an excellent social occasion for our people catch up with their former classmates and enjoy the delicious dishes. The main purpose of the event is to fund raise to assist our School with their educational and sports activities. Over the past year the PSA Shivananda Vidyalaya UK has funded few Educational projects at Shivananda and sponsored for acquiring moveable football posts at the school ground.

Dr & Mrs A Abimanue who was a former student graced the event as our chief guest while Mr & Mrs Sivasundram of Western Jewellers and Mr & Mrs Indrarajah have enhanced the event as our special guests. Upon our invitation we had the privilege to have the past students association of St. Michaels College, Methodist Central College, Vincent Girls High School. Also we had the representation of charity organisations ADVRO, TSSA and FOC and officials from IBC, Lebara, Serendip Lanka Travels Ltd and La Masalah to this event.

On behalf of the current executive committee, Hon General Secretary T Sundrarajah conveyed our gratitude for those supported to the successfulness of the “Shivananda Evening – 2016”.

The event was compered by Mr E Indrakumar, Mr Breeto Jeyakumar and MR SP Thavajothy.
